Freedom Trail Official App This app is available on all platforms, and allows students to interactively go through the city of Boston on the Freedom Trail with the help of Google Maps. They have access to the Google Map Street View which will offer both an interactive and informational experience. Mapping Revolutionary Boston App This app is available for iPad, and allows students to explore an interactive map of historical Boston. Allowing students the options to play with both maps that are able to compare historical Boston to what it is now. American Revolution Interactive Timeline- free This is an award-winning, graphically rich timeline, developed by The American Revolution Center, a non-profit educational institution working to build The Museum of the American Revolution, offers information and access to rare treasures from the Center’s collection that will be displayed in the new museum. Almost like getting to do a gallery walk in the classroom. This app could be used during full group discussion or in a centers activity. Designed specifically for iPad, the app offers up close imagery, video, and information through an interactive, zoomable timeline showcasing artwork, weapons, clothing, objects, and manuscripts from the Center’s collection. Image captions and video podcasts provide an overview of key milestones of the American Revolution. Beyond Textbooks 2010: American History Games This application helps students connect to the Social Studies content that they are about to learn, Specifically American Revolution, through fun interactive games. The games are designed to get students warmed up and ready to learn. For each chapter, students can play a mini-game: "Say What?" or "Clues to the Past" that has them interact with Virginia’s Essential Questions. When they complete all the topics, students unlock a bonus game: "Whacky History" or "History Hunter" that reinforces the concepts introduced in each chapter. Adds an entertainment factor to the lesson where students do not realize they are learning content. Specifically for Apple products. American Revolution by Kids Discover This app for the IPad, is an interactive app that explores everything about the American Revolution. Reenactments of battles, the life of a soldier, portraits, puzzles, games, and 3-D models. Everything that could pull in a student into wanting to know more about the Revolution. Constitution for iPad by Clint Bagwell Consulting This is another app for the IPad, but this app focuses on the Constitution of the United States. In this app, the user can explore all the articles and the scene at the signing of the Constitution including all the people involved! The Fifty Nifty United States Song!

Viewers are able to locate specific events and click on a link to learn more about the event. There are detailed descriptions of each event as well as links to other events. This website connects the events and shows how one event caused the next. http://www.theamericanrevolution.org/default.aspx This site has information on events, people, and battles similar to the previous resource but this one includes people and documents that played important roles in the American Revolution. This site gives corresponding pictures to events and provides opportunities to connect to the events with a Facebook page that will post reminders from the American Revolution to today’s date including specific battles like Bunker Hill and congressional meetings. http://revolution.mrdonn.org/games.html: This resource introduces Liberty Kids by creating interactive games that identify details from the American Revolution. One game in particular is called Mystery Guest and students are given three tries to guess the Revolutionary. They can also experience life as a colonist and create their own Revolutionary experience. Not to mention a student can write with a quill pen, meet the founding fathers, and decipher George Washington’s secret codes. Students can explore and compare their daily lives now to the lifestyle of the colonial era. Students can also learn about famous revolutionists and play games in relation to the American Revolution. www.amrevmuseum.org This website is the online component to the Museum of the American Revolution. This website has an interactive timeline, an online collection of artifacts, and a survey to see how well the user knows the American Revolution. This website also has a lesson plan section for educators to use to better teach the Revolution. |
